Details
This 7 Days / 6 Nights safari brings together three of Uganda’s best experiences. Start in Kibale Forest, known for its chimpanzees and rich primate life, before travelling to Queen Elizabeth National Park for game drives and a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel.
The journey then continues south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you'll spend a day trekking through the forest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family.
Along the way, expect beautiful landscapes, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, Uganda kobs and other wildlife, with chimpanzees and gorillas being the highlights of the trip.
Your safari starts early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.
Meet your Onyx Nature Safaris guide and begin the journey west towards Kibale. The drive takes you through Uganda's countryside, with plenty to see along the way.
Stop for lunch before continuing towards Fort Portal and Kibale.
Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon, check in and relax.
If you arrive early enough, you can take a short walk around the lodge or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the forest.
Overnight: Kibale
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for your chimpanzee trekking briefing.
Enter Kibale Forest with your ranger and begin the search for a chimpanzee community.
The trek takes you through beautiful forest, with opportunities to see other primates along the way, including red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys and L'Hoest's monkeys.
When you find the chimpanzees, spend time watching them move through the forest, feed, groom and interact with one another.
Return for lunch after the trek.
In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided nature walk. It's a great chance to see more primates, birds and local plant life while supporting a community-run conservation project.
Return to your lodge in the evening.
Overnight: Kibale
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Enjoy breakfast before leaving Kibale and travelling towards Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The journey takes you through the beautiful countryside around Fort Portal, with views of crater lakes and, on a clear day, the Rwenzori Mountains.
After lunch, enter Queen Elizabeth National Park for an afternoon game drive.
Explore the savannah in search of elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs and other wildlife.
With some luck, you may also encounter lions or leopards.
Continue to your lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Wake up early for a morning game drive.
The cooler morning hours are a great time to explore the park and search for wildlife.
After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and some time to relax.
In the afternoon, head to the Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise.
From the water, you'll have the chance to see large numbers of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and a variety of water birds along the shoreline.
After the cruise, return to the lodge for dinner.
Overnight: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After breakfast, leave for the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park and explore the Ishasha sector.
Enjoy a game drive through this quieter part of the park, looking out for elephants, buffaloes, topi and other wildlife.
Ishasha is also famous for its tree-climbing lions, so your guide will keep an eye on the fig trees along the way.
After the game drive, continue towards Bwindi.
The landscape changes dramatically as you leave the savannah behind and enter the green hills of southwestern Uganda.
Arrive at your lodge and relax.
Your guide will brief you about the following day's gorilla trek.

Once you find your gorilla family, you'll have the permitted time to watch them in their natural environment.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and a well-earned rest.
