Uganda Safari Expedition 16 Days

Day 1: ARRIVAL
A representative from Onyx safaris will meet you at Entebbe international Airport and transfer you to your accommodation in Kampala. Relax, later take a city tour around Kampala city. Attractions on this day will include the tombs of Kasubi, Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, the Uganda Museum a place where historical instruments are kept for remembrance and the national theatre for crafts for craft shopping. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel African or Holiday Express Hotel.

Day 2: KAMPALA – MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK
This morning your will depart by road to Murchison Falls National Park. Lunch on the way then a nature walk to the top of the falls is rewarding. You will trail around the top of the falls go right up to the water’s edge. You have the opportunity to hike to the top of the falls from where you will be able see how the calm Nile forces itself through a narrow gorge through which it explodes into the falls. After you will proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight at luxury Paraa Safari Lodge/ luxury Chobe safari lodge / Budget Red chilli Camp.

Day 3: MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK
This day of your Murchison falls Uganda wildlife safari will start with a game drive in the morning game. Your game safari will take you across to Lake Albert and the Nile delta to see elephants, buffalo, giraffe, antelope and hopefully lion. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch and a boat trip in the afternoon which will take around 3 hours.
This boat trip along the Nile will offer a great experience for your trip to Murchison falls since it will offer you chance to get up-close with the animals. Along this stretch of the river, 4,000 species of hippos are recorded in addition to some enormous Nile crocodiles. The bird life is rewarding for bird watchers with brightly colored kingfishers and bee-eaters darting along the riverbanks. You may have chance and see the rare and shoebill along the Nile River. Day 4: MURCHISON FALLS – KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
Wake up early for break fast and start our Kibale journey driving to Fort Portal. The journey is long but rewarding with scenic view of banana plantations and African homesteads along the way. We arrive Fort Portal town in the evening as we view the stunning Rwenzori Mountains commonly known as “mountains of the moon”. Then drop into the tropical forest of Kibale passing through the Tea plantations. Dinner and overnight stay at Primates lodge or Chimpanzee guest house.

Day 5: KIBALE FOREST & BIGODI SWAMP
This morning of your safari to Kibale will be spent exploring the great kibale forest for its primates. The forest is femous in Africa safaris for being a home of a variety of primates compared to other forests in East Africa. Take a guided nature walk in search for man’s closest relatives the chimpanzees and primates residing in the tropical forest of Kibale like of Kibale Forest red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus monkey and many others may be seen. This walk is restricted to three groups of six persons each, in the morning and the same number in the afternoon. Retire to your accommodation for lunch which will be followed with a guided nature in Bigodi swamp. Transfer to your lodge in the evening dinner and of night stay.

Day 6: VISIT THE CRATER LAKES REGION
Have a calm breakfast before we head off for an exploration of the crater lakes. Enjoy the beauty of the numerous small lakes, surrounded by gentle hills, and the stunning views. Take a hike at Lake Nkuruba to encounter different species of primates and birds, and visit the Mahoma Falls. Meet the local people as you walk through their villages, learn about the customs of the Batoro tribe and enjoy the panoramic views. Dinner and overnight at the cottages of Primate Lodge Kibale.

Day 7: KIBALE FOREST – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
This morning will start with a cup of coffee before traveling to Queen Elizabeth Park. Then a tour to the crater lakes region as you head to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The grater lakes region offers a clear view of mountains of the moon and scenery of Kasese town. You arrive Queen Elizabeth in the Afternoon and lunch at your accommodation. If you are sleeping in the luxury Mweya Hotel you will relax at the swimming pool. Then a late evening game drive in search for the resident of the park like waterbucks, warthogs, elephants, buffalos, antelopes and other wildlife will be seen. Dinner and overnight stay ay Mweya Safari Lodge or budget institute of Ecology.

Day 8: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
This day will start with a game drive heading to the mating ground of the Uganda Kobs. You may see other residents of the park’s grassland like lions, elephants, buffaloes. Waterbucks, giant forest hog and other wild animals in their natural habitat before returning to your lodge for your breakfast. After late break fast you will relax at your lodge and wait for lunch. After lunch, you will have a boat trip along the Kazinga Channel, while the boat trip you will have an opportunity to see wildlife like hippo’s huff and spray mere feet away from the boat, buffalo linger in the shallows. The shores of the Kazinga channel are also home to an array of bird species like pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many more. After the afternoon boat trip, we will drive back to Lodge for an Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Simba safari lodge/ Institute of Ecology (FB

Day 9: QUEEN ELIZABETH – BWINDI FOREST NATIONAL PARK
Set for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest located in south Western Uganda. You journey will take you through Ishasha, home of the tree climbing lions, roads permitting, or take the alternative route through rural cultivated expanses of Western Uganda. Time permitting, go for a short stroll around the Safari Lodge or explore the village. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort / Buhoma community Bandas (FB).

Day 10: GORILLA TRACKING
Before starting your gorilla tracking, you will fast be briefed about the tracking experience by your ranger guides. You will walk through the dense forest in search for the gorillas through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas. (This gorilla tracking safari experience may take a half an hour to 5 hours.
You will have time you get closer and Sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silverback. Depending on the time you will spend with the gorillas, you may opt for a nature walk after the trekking experience.

Day 11: BWINDI NATIONAL PARK – LAKE BUNYONYI
After breakfast we depart to Lake Bunyonyi, the deepest lake in Africa. Relax, take a Take breakfast before transferring for your scenic journey to Kabale driving through the beautiful terrain of the rolling hills with terraced landscape. While sleeping at Lake Bunyonyi, you will visit the local community for traditional dances where you may take part and take a boat trip on the lake to various islands for bird watching and sight seeing. Dinner and overnight in Arcadia Cottages with a clear view of the Lake / Bushara Island

Day 12: LAKE BUNYONYI – NSHENYI CULTURAL SAFARI UGANDA
This morning you will leave the beauty and hills of Kabale for your Culture safari in Nshenyi Mbarara (Isingiro district). You will arrive Nshenyi village in the afternoon for your culture trip. This evening you will take a cultural walk to the local communities. . Dinner and overnight at Nshenyi Village.

Day 13: NSHENYI CULTURAL SAFARI
The morning is dedicated to the milking experience. Breakfast will be served from the farm and take a nature walk to the Bahima communities. Here you will see their way of dressing totally different from other tribes. Another walk will take you to River Kagera in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Nshenyi Village.

Day 14: NSHENHYI VILLAGE – KAMPALA
After breakfast we leave Nshenyi. Enjoy the magnificent views one more time as we head back to Mbarara and continue to Kampala. On our way we will pass Lake Mburo National Park and make a stop at the Ugandan equator for photos and souvenir shopping. Overnight at Holiday Express Hotel.

Day 15: KAMPALA – JINJA SOURCE OF THE NILE RAFTING
Ready for a half day source of the Nile Rafting adventure safari. Early morning cup of tea and travel to the east where Jinja is located on part of Lake Victoria, where the Nile finds its origin. You will start your rafting after briefing, you will raft to thundering rapids at its fullest with it scenery and bird species. You will travel back to Kampala with a visit to Ssezibwa falls for traditional and cultural rituals

Day 16: DEPARTURE
With all the memories of your Africa safari with Onyx you will say bye bye to Africa. You will be transferred to the Air port to meet your international flight. End of your Uganda safari expedition.
